Corps de l'article

Can you tell us more about your job at APRIL?

I am a Regional Marketing Executive and look after digital projects, events and communications for our key countries of operations in Asia. That includes Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines - and soon Indonesia.

I joined APRIL 3 years ago as a Digital Marketing Assistant and my job has changed a lot over the years. I was first in charge of defining our digital and content strategies for Hong Kong and Singapore, but my attributions quickly evolved as the company started to grow. Today, I look after our online communication strategy that includes social media, emailing campaigns, press releases... I am also in charge of managing events, partnerships and sponsorships across the region. I've had the chance to organise many events in Asia, from corporate events to workshops or charity projects. Another big project I am contributing to is our Easy Claim app - our Asia team has worked hard to launch some new and innovative services on the app that are making our clients' lives much easier and that's something we are really proud of.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I like that my job is so diverse. I don't have any work routine, every day is really different. There are always many projects, events, campaigns or daily tasks intersecting with each other. Even though APRIL is a worldwide company, it sometimes feels like working for a startup.

I also like that it is constantly challenging me. When I first joined the company, I had absolutely no experience in the insurance sector and had to learn everything from scratch. I've also worked on many exciting projects, from organising a product launch in the Philippines or launching APRIL's first charity event in Bangkok. I am grateful that I got the chance to learn and grow so much these past three years.

How would you describe your job environment?

I am working with several teams across our regional offices as well as our France and UK branches. I like working is such a multicultural environment every day. That's also true within our Hong Kong office or within my own department - I am French and my colleagues are British, American and of course from Hong Kong. I am interacting with people from different positions and backgrounds and with very different personalities.

In addition, I am grateful to be working alongside so many successful, inspirational women. I believe that we have a lot to learn from each other and grow together as a team every day.

Why is it important for APRIL to celebrate International Women’s Day?

At APRIL, we have achieved great numbers in terms of gender diversity. I think it is important for companies to celebrate this kind of achievements and acknowledge the progress that has been made over the years. I am lucky to be working for a company that counts 66% of women, from entry-level positions to directors. We tend to take this for granted but we need to remember that it took decades for women and companies to achieve this. And even if APRIL managed to reach great gender diversity, there is still a long way to go for a great majority of companies worldwide.

By publishing this series of interviews, we are also hoping that it will inspire other companies to review their commitment toward equality and gender diversity. We have many female leaders who are part of APRIL's success and I hope that it will encourage companies to help women access positions of responsibility and at the same time, inspire more women who are at the early stages of the career to reach for higher positions.
